Realtor Trent Siskron is beginning to wonder if he has a tiger by the tail. This past week, he listed 710 Crockett, the ‘Salvation Army Lofts’ and already, the listing is going viral. “I haven’t seen anything like this on any other listing I have had,” he told me this morning.
It’s not a surprise that folks would be interested. Co-owner Leon Dayries was the first person willing to take a chance on downtown residential way back in the mid-1990s when residential options were few and most apartments had moved to the suburbs. He spent two years trying to purchase the circa 1932 building before he was finally successful in 1996.
His intention was to turn the building into apartments, an idea many of his friends thought was particularly insane. Leon was an outlier, and knew that given a cool space to live, people would return to downtown residential. He was right! For years, within minutes of him posting an apartment availability on Craig’s List, the space would be snapped up. The property is now available for a listing price of $1.27 million.
